Caroline and I walk out of the crowd and she plugs in a stereo while I took a swig of my beer. She walks to the other side of the gallery and I slowly pump up my water pistol in silence. When I have adequate pressure I stop and turn on the music, “California Gurls” by Katy Perry. I begin to squirt Caroline in the face with buttermilk from my water pistol, pumping intermittently. It covers her face and drips onto her white shirt. When I run out of juice I place the water pistol on the floor. Caroline walks towards me and places her hands either side of my face, I put mine on her hips. She leans in, as if for a kiss, and begins to clean her face with my tongue. When she’s finished she wipes my chin, we bend down for our drinks and walk back into the crowd with the music still playing.

I'm your Venus, Pt II
I'm your Venus, Pt II, 2012, performance installation
I shaved continuously during the opening hours of for the exhibition, beginning from where I had to leave off in Pt I, moving onto regrowth from the previous performance and then going over my freshly shaved skin. There was about five hours over two days. In this version the audience were able to see me through the windows of the tent as well as being able to watch the live feed on the external monitor.

I'm your Venus
I'm Your Venus, 2012, performance installation, 1h 47mins
I shaved my body inside a pink children's play tent. The audience viewed the shaving via a live feed from my hand held video camera to a monitor outside the tent. Throughout the performance the song "Venus" by Bananarama played on repeat from inside the tent, also relayed through the live feed to outside speakers. The performance ended when my video camera battery ran out.

feminists, feminaints & femimaybes
feminists, feminaints & femimaybes, 2011, zine
I asked friends and acquaintances of various ages and genders what they understood feminism to be and whether they considered themselves to be feminists. I collected the responses in various formats (transcribed conversations, copies of emails and online chats, a mindmap, a photograph, found drawings) and compiled them into an A6 booklet.

Her Suit
Her Suit, 2011, zine
For this zine I collected individual hairs from various places on my body (upper lip, nipple, shin etc.), and photocopied them one-a-page alongside identifying labels. On the last page is an individual dedication to and story about the people who have most hated and most loved my hair.

Biennale Bride 2010
Biennale Bride, 2010, Performance
An uncommissioned performance for the Sydney Biennale, 2010. I put on full bridal attire before I left my house in Wellington, New Zealand on the 14th June and flew to Sydney, Australia to attend the Biennale. I wore the wedding dress 24hrs a day. I visited all the major Biennale venues. Each day whilst I was in Sydney I bought a new bridal accessory. I also underwent several 'beautifying' treatments over the course of the five days, including having my facial hair waxed off, getting a manicure and pedicure and professional eyebrow shaping. I flew back to Wellington on the 19th June and removed the bridal outfit when I got home.
